Yunnan Plateau Characteristic Agricultural Industry Research Institute is a department level public institution approved by CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee and Government in 2014 and administrated by Yunnan Agricultural University. Its responsibility is to comprehensively implement the significant strategic deployment of CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee and Government on developing plateau characteristic agriculture, establish the technical support system for Yunnan plateau characteristic agricultural industry, promote technical innovation fbr Yunnan plateau characteristic agricultural industrialization, improve quality and benefits of Yunnan agricultural development substantially, create the ^fenceless research institute", accelerate agricultural industrial transition, upgrading and reconstruction, build up green strategy brands with advantages, influence and competitiveness in China and even in the world, promote scientific, harmonious and leap-forward development of Yunnan, and to realize the transition from a strong natural resources oriented province to a strong green economy province.

Yunnan Plateau Characteristic Agricultural Industry Research Institute has 28 staffs as a public institution, including one Director (Department Director level, the position held by the President of Yunnan Agricultural University Concurrently), three Deputy Directors (Deputy Department Director Level), and it has five offices, namely Comprehensive Office, Financial Office, Project Management Office, Project Management Office, Industry Development Office and Expert Service Office. Now the institute has 29 permanent staffs and gets the award ^Yunnan Provincial Technology Transfer Demonstration Institution5J granted by Science & Technology Department of Yunnan Province. Provincial and ministerial labs and platforms have been built successively, such as National Moringa Processing Technology Research & Development Center and Yunnan Province Biological Big Data Key Lab. Therefore, the institute is increasingly strong in a leading role in the industry and product innovation.
